Hello everyone,
We hope you are all enjoying Halloween. Those of you with holidays this time of year certainly are we presume, while those of you without… well, you and/or your children will be back in bouncing next week, so hang in there!
As it is the midterm break, it seems a perfect time to send out an update and round up of the goings on within SuperSonic at present.
Important dates:
This term is only a 10 week term as you all know, and with 6 weeks down, we are only 4 away from finishing up for the term. As such, the last classes of term will be on the week of Nov 28th – Dec 2nd. This is slightly earlier than last year, though we intend to host a competition the weekend after (details to follow).
Class structure:
This term has seen the introduction of our floor equipment and a revision in class design to accommodate. For those that are not familiar with how things work during a session, here is the basic premise:
3 sections of learning, 20 minutes devoted to each
1 – Trampoline Skills: Time devoted to learning new moves, new combinations and progressing individual skills
2 – Trampoline Drills: Time devoted to developing routines and linked skills. Focus is on pre-exisiting moves being drilled to perfection, and practicing towards creating competition grade routines.
3 – Floor Gymnastics: Time devoted to a range of skills, conditioning and drills using our top quality floor gymnastics equipment. You will only see equipment that fits in with the rebound nature of trampolining, as the goal here is to develop the strength, power and speed required for the more demanding actions in trampolining.
As this is a very different approach to previous terms, there has been some adaptation required by us all in the club. We are continuing to monitor how things are developing for our gymnasts, so dont be surprised if we make slight changes to classes occasionally. The goal as always is continual improvement.
Gradings & Competition:
We will be grading everyone in class before the end of term. Slight tweeks have been made to the system in line with the new setup, but overall these will be as before, with our SuperSonic Bands being awarded based on ability and testing.
Our intention is to hold a Christmas competition in December in the weekend following the end of term. Full details will go out in advance of this, but expect it to be on a Sunday morning/early afternoon. Hopefully everyone will compete, and hopefully it will be another day to remember, with gymnasts from outside clubs coming along to take part alongside our own. Focus in the coming weeks will be on routine training for this event.
For anyone nervous about competing, don’t worry, the emphasis will be on taking part, with levels for all abilities, and every effort will be made to keep the pressure off and the enjoyment high!
Adults Classes:
The new setup has been received with differing views; some love it, some prefer our old system. We have taken these views into account and will be monitoring and subtly adapting classes where necessary. Our goal is that you love what you do in SuperSonic, and both feel and see the improvements you are making.
As always, if you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to let us know!
Looking forward to seeing you all back with us soon,
Darron
